Workshop on Effective Study Habit

Perhaps the greatest challenge for students is how to reproduce the maximum amount of studied material in the minimum amount of time during the exam. In their desire to obtain high percentage students struggle with difficulties like forgetting, low attention span, poor concentration, poor time management & inability to cope with academics.   The workshop has been specially designed to reduce the difficulties student face with studying and help them to read, understand, practice and change study habits.

Objectives

  • To devise the easiest and smartest ways to study different subjects.
  • To minimize the use of rote memorization.
  • To find more efficient ways to recall and revise.
  • To apply scientific tools and objective methods and make learning meaningful and fun.

Design

The course is designed to be experiential and practical in nature. Check lists, worksheets, conceptual models, discussions and small group sharing forms the design of this workshop. Study related home work assignments to make learning permanent and practical.

Coverage

The following topics will be covered;
  1. Identification of current study habits
  2. Time management and scheduling. 
  3. Concentration,
  4. Managing stress and exam anxiety
  5. Memory techniques
  6. Goal settings
  7. Positive attitude
  8. Relaxation techniques.

Duration

Comprises of eight – two hour sessions – spread over two months.

  • Mapping and correcting personal study habits
  • Designing memory tools to enhance revision.
  • Foster healthy study habits through intrinsic motivation.
